What is a Balloon Sinuplasty?

A balloon sinuplasty is used by otolaryngologists (E.N.T.s) to treat inflamed and/or blocked sinuses. The physician will insert a wire catheter into the effected sinus cavity. The catheter is used to place the balloon in the correct location, at which,
the balloon is inflated. This inflation results in the sinus opening being dilated and restoring normal drainage.  If this sounds like you, call your Chattanooga Ear Nose and Throat expert today!

What to Expect

The procedure can be handled typically in the physician office and will only require local anesthesia.  It is a really common procedure to correct sinus drainage issues.  The main reason for this is that are many benefits to utilizing a balloon sinuplasty
over sinus surgery under most conditions.
Benefits of Balloon Sinuplasty

  • Extremely safe: .1% complication rate
  • It is as consistent in delivering results as sinus surgery
  • Can provide effective treatment for: Chronic sinusitis, allergies, deviated septums, & asthma
